Bluffers Park Yacht Club

A mid-winter scene taken from the BPYC docks. As you can see, there will always be sailors who like to keep their boats in the water all year round.

Since ice is always an issue during the coldest months the club installs electric "ice eaters" that agitate the water continuously and prevent the ice from forming around the boats.

An intricate set of "bubblers" also protect each fixed dock from the ice. Air is pumped through a complex network of tubes that end right below the water at each pillar. The bubblers run 24 hours a day, from late fall to spring and are inspected daily by club members.
